Flat Con IV Rules (same as below, but in a pdf file)

Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader Tournament

Information Sheet

Rules:

1.  Trial or “new” assault rules will be in affect.

2.  Special characters are allowed (except Citadel Journal characters).

3.  Jungle rules and City fight rules will NOT be used.

4.  What you see if what you get on models will be enforced.

5.  1750 points, one standard force organization chart.  3 games.

6.  Poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated.  This is all for fun.  Disputes should be handled by mutual agreement, or a roll-off if not handled in 2 minutes.  If a ruling is asked for, it will be impartial, fast and binding.  Please, handle disputes as best possible.  This is the Eye of Terror so be a bit more understanding than normal and remember, battle points are only 1/4 of your total score.

7.  Submission of army lists or questions of any sort by email to the judge’s address below.

Care of Bruce Jaggard by Monday August 4th is suggested for maximum selection points (see entry later) and mandatory for certain army lists used (also, see below)

8.  All models must be Citadel, Forgeworld, Maruader or Fanatic.  In addition, the Joe Oreteza Adeption 2003 model may be used as well as any custom sculped dude you’ve created based on existing Warhammer 40,000 fluff or history.

Unusual Rogue Trader Rules:

1.  All ‘recommended optional’ rules from Chapter Approved books (with exception of road, craters and other things...and forced marching) will be in affect.

2.  All ‘recommended optional’ army lists will be allowed...including Feral Orks, Armageddon Guard Regiments (Elysians, Death Korp Krieg, etc.), Death Company Armies, Armored Companies, Kroot Mercenaries (as allies and complete armies), Cursed Founding Marine chapters.  Etc.  Ask Judge about armies you’re interest in that aren’t specifically mentioned please.

3.  Imperial Armor Vehicles and devices are allowed.  Except Fliers and warmachines.

4.  Vehicle Design Rules (VDR) will be allowed with following restrictions...

     A.  One per army

     B.  May replace a Transport vehicle

     C.  Must be submitted via email by August 1 with   3 view pictures of Final Product to judge       for pre- approval.

     D.  A second complete army list will be prepared by users of VDR in case judge vetoes use          of such vehicle (even upon preapproval if not 100% as submitted earlier if they don’t look like      the submitted picture of have been modified).

     E.  A ‘data template’ of some sort MUST be made available to each opponent and an extra            for the judge.

.....short answer, be prepared to have your VDR put through the ringer and also prepare for it not to be allowed.

5.  Citadel Journal army lists are allowed but ONLY as full armies and not allies. This includes Harlequins, Arbites, and GeneStealer Cults.  Characters for citadel journal are not allowed.

6.  Every player will provide his own dice, template, markers etc.  This also means that each player will have a copy of ANY rules he intends to use available for his opponent to review.  No rules provided, judges will rule.

Tournament Scoring:

1.  25% of total score, 60 points, will be based on battle performance and called “Battle”

2.  25% of total score, 60 points, will be based on sportsmanship.

3.  25% of total score, 60 points, will be based on army appearance

4.  25% of total score, 60 points, will be based on army selection

Battle Scoring:

You shall earn up to 20 points per battle.  There are three.  Simple and based on the missions which shall be announced by tournament judge in each round.  Prepare for any type of battle and the missions may be custom designed by judge and, therefore, never seen before.

Sportsmanship Scoring:

You shall have points earned by what your opponents say about your general demeanor as a player during your game with them.  You shall rank your three opponents at the end of the day from ‘best sportsman’, to ‘worst sportsman’.  Each ‘best’ vote you get earns you 20 points, each ‘middle’ will earn you 10, and each ‘worst’ shall earn you 0.  You will NOT be giving each opponent a ‘best’ ranking.  All three may be the best players you’ve ever faced, but you still must decide how to rank them yourself from best to worst.  If all three of your opponents find you the most enjoyable of the three THEY each played, you shall earn 60 points.  The average score will therefore be a 30 and there should be few (if any) ties for best sportsman.

Selection Scoring:

For the purpose of the Eye of Terror Tournament, a good selection refers to the ability to take on all-comers.  At the end of the tournament, each player will choose their favorite enemy army selection.  This does NOT have to be the same as the best sportsman you faced.  This is based on the army selection alone and not how it was played or how well you beat it (or it beat you).  Points awarded for Selection as follows (60 maximum).  You have almost total control over 35 of the points by turning in on time and following the Selection Judge’s checklist.

* 0-15 for being submitted “on time”.  Which is Monday August 4th for ALL armies and by      August 1st if your army has a VDR vehicle, is a Citadel Journal army, or an “optional rules”     army.  These points are non-negotiable and are either full 15 points or none at all

*0-10 based on Selection Judge’s Discretion and is subjective to your army type.

*0-15 based on Opponent’s rankings.  Each ‘Best Selection’ vote you get earns you 5 points.

*0-20 from the following checklist....

5 points = Is the army legal and the math correct?

5 points = Are there more Troops choices that any other type?

5 points = Is there at least one selection from each category (fast, heavy, elite)?

1 point = Was considerable time put into the background?

1 point = Are squad/character names fleshed out and make sense?

1 point = Is the background of army consistent with the 40k universe?

1 point = Is the background original?

1 points = Is the army list presented in a pleasing and easy to understand format?

Appearance Scoring:

The breakdown that the appearance judge will be using to award up to 60 points is as follows...

*0-20 Every (no exception) model has a ‘3 color’ paint job at least?

*0-10 Every model is based in a matching (or logically unmatching) fashion?

*0-5 for levels of shading and highlighting?

*0-5 for levels of blending and drybrushing?

*0-5 for conversions and representations of WYSIWYG.  Judge will be looking down wargear      list in your army and finding them on the models.

*0-15 for each ‘players pick’ you earn, you shall receive 5 points.

Prizes:

The soon-to-be famous Adeptus Flatlandicus Tournament trophies and plaques for Best Overall, Appearance, Sportsmanship, Army, Tactician, Hobbiest, Selection, etc.

Also, other little known awards such as Coolest VDR vehicle, Best General and others that shall remain secret..

Prize support can’t be 100% known before-hand as sponsors keep appearing, but some examples of prizes (other than trophies/plaques) are army carrying cases, new Games Workshop  products, out of print blisters, store gift certificates and possible pre-release models.

All games will be counted on the Adeptus Flatlandicus/Adeptus Windy City “DakkaStats” on the www.dakkadakka.com statistics website.
