Come and check it out!

Some of you may remember me, most of you probably won't. I am the
erstwhile lurker, shirker, and sometimes worker, known as Crane Boy.
Long have I sat idle on this list saying nothing. The time of my
rebirth is at hand.

I am organizing a Clan War event at this year's Flat Con in
Bloomington Illinois. It's going to be a departure from what I
remember of the typical Clan War tournies of the past, with Clan
specific (kinda) scenarios and a pleasant sort of modularity between
rounds. As I foolishly volunteered to do this without thinking it
through it may be a bit rocky, but I think with a bit of pluck, shuck
and a touch of flamboyantly Crane panache I can do it....

<CRAZY IDEA>
Anyhoo here's what the idea has started to shape up as:I will write 3
scenarios, each scenario will be handed out in advance of the next
round. Round Robin. Battles will be 2 Hours long and will use VPs set
forth in scenarios. Scenarios will be narrative and clan specific (ie
in one scenario Lion, Crab, Phoenix, Naga play side 1, all others
play side 2) 1k points (may change between rounds, only 3 armies, but
all 3 armies must be registered in advance with the judge, me. You
must play the same clan/faction through all 3 rounds) 15 card
tactical decks (Building a deck for each game from a pool of 30 cards
I may up this to 35). I need 7 people to express an intrest. Oh, and
I need someone to help out with prize support since AEG is <grumble
script></grumble script>

</CRAZY IDEA>

I went with the smaller size game as I want games to go faster and be
more decisive. I do plan on doing some silly stuff with the
scenarios, in order to force people to vary tactics wildly. One trick
won't be enough to win this horse show. Also, I will need some help
from somebody with experience doing the tourney organizing thing, AND
WHO WILL NOT BE ATTENDING FLAT CON. Which since it's in Illinois,
will probably be most of you.

I sign this now with a long unused handle and in so doing forevermore
trap myself amidst the gamers in the L5R fold...
