April 25-27, 2008 on campus of Ill. Central College. Now available on the Spring Offensive website:
Simple a game convention run by volunteers.
Our purpose is to promote our gaming hobby in Central Illinois. We are often a catalyst for other regional and national conventions - sending tables, events, attendees, and volunteers.
A lot of really good people sharing in the hobby. We could get more gaming in, if we didn't put so much time into this convention - we really do it for fun.
No. We run this under a company called FlatCon. Its only purpose is to create enough revenue to run the convention for the next year (and to pay taxes).
Honestly, we cut this just close enough to have the funds to repeat the convention next year. Anything left over just makes next year's convention that much better. No person working for FlatCon takes any individual profit.
No, we do not offer one day or discounted pages of any kind. It costs just as much to process one day as three day registrations. Vendors do get some badges with their fee they pay. And, no, we do not have free passes. In fact, every staffmember has paid their own registration fee, too! We not only work for free, we pay to work for FlatCon! (We obviously are not too terribly bright.).
Waiting for you to volunteer to run it :) We have some great games run by some of the most outstanding game guides in the area. Visit games run by "Over the Top Productions" and those GW tournaments to see the work put in by some of the great ones.
Yes, as long as it's "tastefully done." Yes, that is subjective, sorry. This is a family con as many of us bring our kids. No weapons. No naked. You should be fine, but we do reserve the right to ask anyone in costume to make changes or not wear it. Sorry.
No. The Interstate Center has those on site plus vending machines. Likewise, we ask our vendors to not sell food and drink.
