Rules:
Rules based on the Capitol Imperialis Tourney developed by Dave
Cresswell at Springfield Game Store:
- You MUST use the same army list for every game.
- All models must be from one of Games Workshop's Lines. Citadel, Maurauder,
Forge World, and Fanatic are all acceptable minitaure lines.
- Conversions are not only welcome, but encouraged. Do not bring a Toys-R-Us
miniature with a Space Marine glued on it and expect to use it. Most units
available for any GW game system are available through Games Workshop, it's
affiliates, or by converting an existing Games Workshop model. Don't insult
the creativity and hard work of others by bringing an unacceptable model. Space
Marine Drop Pods are a specific exception to this rule - GW sponsored tournaments
worldwide allow scratch-built Drop Pods. This does NOT allow you to bring McDonalds
cups for your Drop Pods! They will be held to the same standard as every other
conversion.
- All models must be WYSIWYG (What You See is What You Get). If you wish a
model to use an item it MUST be represented on the model. Similar to the conversion
rules stated above, if you are in doubt as to whether a weapon is allowable
- it probably isnt! Be sure to check BEFORE the tournament starts, and have
a replacement at hand in case it isn't.
- While it is VITALLY important that all models you will be playing with be
painted, you will be allowed to play with unpainted figs. Note, however, that
the Appearance Score sheet is written in such a way that ALL models must have
three colors to get a point for it. This is also true with basing and highlights/shading
- ALL models must meet the requirement to score the point. Expect a very low Appearance Score if you bring
unbased/unpainted models.
- Capital Imperialis Tournaments hold Sportsmanship in VERY high esteem. We
want everyone at our tournaments to have fun in their games - win or lose.
Treat your opponents as you would have them treat you!
- You must bring all materials required to play your games. This means: Measuring
Device, Dice, Templates, Minatures, Any/All rules you will be using, and 5
copies of your Army List - One for the TO, one for each opponent and one or
yourself.
You must use the most recent ruleset for your army, and are expected to have
those rules with you for your opponent's perusal if asked. Only Codexes/Army
Books/Rulebooks in widespread circulation a full 30 days before each tournament
will be allowed.
Warhammer 40k Standard Rules:
- All armies must be no more than the above listed points in a single detatchment.
- Specific Zone fighting rules will NOT be in effect. No Cityfight rules, no
Jungle Fighting.
- Special Characters are allowed as long as they meet the points requirement.
- Super-Heavy vehicles and Flyers are NOT allowed.
- Imperial Armor/Forgeworld models and units are allowed but you MUST supply
your opponent with a full and current ruleset for the unit(s) previous to the
game.

Scoring:
- Battles - 110 points max (Result Scored)
- Sportsmanship - 30 points max (Opponent Scored), plus 1 point per "favorite
player vote"
- Appearance - 25+ points max (Judge Scored +2 per Player's Choice Vote)
- Theme/Composition - 30 points max (Judge Scored)
Scoring Notes:
- Appearance is scored as objectively as possible. As such, the questions on
the score sheet are as black and white as possible. For Example: Are ALL
bases painted? Are ALL bases flocked? Are ALL models painted with three colors? Are ALL models shaded/inked? Are ALL models highlighted?
Notice that "ALL" is a prevailing theme here. One incomplete model
can really kill your appearance score.
- Theme Composition Scoring is a one-time Judge scored award. There are 25 possible points but truly "opponent-friendly" or "balanced" armies should only expect to score in the high 'teens or low twenties. I DO NOT want
players to build uncompetitive armies just to score well on Composition. GW makes games where there is a winner and a loser for each match - this is as
it should be.
- Composition Scoring and Appearance scoring are weighted such that the Best General is not always the Best Overall - this is ALSO as it should be. If you keep an eye on maintaing 40% of your
army in Troops/Core, less than 25% in HQ/Characters, and staying away from unit minimums to maximize firepower and/or unit bonuses you will most likely
do very well in Composition. Build and bring an army against which you would enjoy playing.
Awards:
- Best Appearance - Highest Appearance Score plus 2 points for each Player's Choice vote.
- Best Sportsman - Highest Sportsmanship Score, plus one point for each "favorite
player" vote
- Best General - Highest Battles Score
- Best Overall - Highest Total Score
