2007 FlatCon “Funament” Rules
This tournament is designed to be easily accessible for newer players as
well as to provide a fun alternative for veteran players. It is designed
to be low pressure and big fun.
This will be an escalation tournament.
- Game 1 – 500 Points
- Game 2 – 750 Points
- Game 3 – 1,000 points
Important: Bring a copy of your army composition for the judges. Failing
do to so will result in a 0 for Army Composition.
Army Selection:
- Any current published army list can be used. If you bring “alternative” armies,
be sure to bring a copy of your army's rules for each opponent and the judges.
- Each army must have a valid army composition for the point level of each
game.
- Special Characters and Named Characters are allowed (if you can fit them
into a legal army build).
Messenger Models will be needed. This must be a single model on foot on
a 20mm or 25mm base.
Non-GW models are allowed. Proxies are allowed. Non-painted figures are
allowed.
“Sliding” will be used vs. “Clipping”. Maximize
the # of models in combat to maximize carnage!
Bad Sportsmanship will not be tolerated.
Scoring:
Battle:
Standard Victory Point values from the BRB Pg 102 unless specified otherwise
in the scenario. +75 pts is required for a Victory.
30 Battle Points total.
Up to 10 Bps per Round.
10 Battle Points per round for results: (10 – Victory, 7 – Draw,
3 - Loss)
Army Composition:
Army Composition will be judged by the judges and players.
Up to 20 points total. 5 points form the judges. 15 points from the players.
Judges will be looking at the army and unit selections.
One point will be given for each "Yes" below.
- Is the Army Legal? Yes/No (non-legal armies will not be allowed!)
Does the army have a legible army list? Yes/No (If we can't read it, we can't
judge it.)
- Is the army representative of the race/theme chosen? Yes/No
- Is the army in the spirit of the FUNament? Yes/No
- Would you ever play with a list like this? Yes/No
Each game will also have player judged composition:
- +5 points (Fun Army Selection!)
- +3 Points (Your standard tourney fare. Fair, balanced, but not pulling
any punches.)
- +1 points (Hard Army Selection)
Sportsmanship:
Sportsmanship will be player judged.
30 points total. Up to 7 points per round and up to +9 points for Favorite
Opponent votes.
Sportsmanship will be judged by your opponent by using a Sportsmanship checklist.
One point is awarded for each "Yes" below.
- Did your opponent arrive to the table on time? Yes/No
- Did your opponent come prepared to play and bring all required items to play
(dice, templates, rulers, rulebooks, army books, pens, calculators, etc.)
Yes/No
- Did your opponent appear to measure movement and charge distrances accurately,
explaining what he was rolling and measuring for? Yes/No
- Were all rules issues/disputes that may have arisen during the game handled
amicably by your opponent? Yes/No?
- Did you have fun playing your opponent, regardless of the outcome? Yes/No
- Was your opponent a fair and sporting Player? Yes/No
- Would you voluntarily play this Player again? Yes/No
In addition, at the end of Round 3, you will cast your vote for Favorite
Opponent. Each vote received will be worth 3 points.

Schedule:
- Check-in at 9:00 a.m.
- Game #1 (500 pts.) 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. (1 hour slot)
- Game #2 (750 pts.) 10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. (1 1/2 hour slot)
- Lunch 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
- Game #3 (1000 pts.) 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. (1 1/2 hour slot)
- Wrap-up/Awards 3:30 p.m.
